Plumbing quote gripe, am I in the right?

If you've had the same problems before, what normally gets done, and what is the normal charge. I'm inclined to suggest that you're right in feeling agrieved that the boss came out, checked the problem, quoted you for the work, and then more work gets added when it's your girlfriend there rather than yourself - which although you haven't actually stated, may well be at the back of your mind. If the work was genuinely needed, and the company want you're continued business, then they'll either write the extra figure off (as a quote is a quote), or they'll compromise. Wait and see what happens, but either way there are those here suggesting that the company may not be handling this problem in the best way, and you're needing an ngoing repair when there are better ways of dealing with the situation.

IIRC, that part no longer has just a cartridge available, which means a new valve assembly plumbed further down the line. Depending on the plumbing arrangements it may require a partial drain down.

Not a fan of Megaflos to be honest. Far too expensive for what they really offer and would rather have full capacity and an external EV
