It helps to think of electricity in wires as water in pipes, if there are no leaks the volume of water going in at one end is the same as comes out at the other end. That is current.If I placed an ammeter in series (connect as you would) would see the same value on live as you would doing the same check on neutral?
The pressure of the water will be different if the water is moving. That is voltage difference ( potential difference ).
The thinner the pipe the less water flows. That is resistance.
The higher the pressure ( voltage ) diffence the more water ( current ) flows.
