Notch7 - thank you a stunning week in West Cornwall. Stormy (not Daniels) on Sunday but some fine Autumn sun.

Nwgs2- stopped in Pendeen and spent a week walking the coastal paths in the far west. Never made it to St Ives. Tinners arms ale and whitebait for lunch last year. Really special.

Have you tried fish and chips night at the Trewellard Arms? Link Every Thursday night with usually 3 choices of the freshest Newlyn fish. I had the John Dory fried in perfect batter and lovely chips. Best I have had in years. Good ale in an old fashioned local pub.

This is a better picture of Portheras Cove.

No I’ve never really spent any time in St. Just. I had mates in Sennen Cove so between there, Penzance and St. Ives.

Oh and Marazion when it was a sunny Sunday.

But I’ll have a look down St. Just next year when we see her family.

Funny you mention Newlyn, my brother Inlaw is a buyer for all the major supermarkets. He started off in Newlyn market and made his way to the top.

If you live away and have not been recently the A30 Truro bypass / dual carriageway is now open and it makes it so much quicker and easier.

Marrazion another favorite and more than just a stoping off point for St Micheals Mount. Spectacular gardens.

We noticed the new roads in February, yeah definitely better.

There’s nothing better than a sunny day and a pint looking at the mount.

I lived in Heamoor for a while and the drive to work in the morning looking at mounts bay was something else. That’s possibly my favourite view

My home area is Kent and trained in London. But to get a house I selected a posting in Manchester and then transferred to Liverpool. Got me on the housing ladder and closer to my now wife.

Then promoted to Exeter 32 years ago. Never regrated that promotion. Have loved living and bringing up my children in Devon in these years. I have to admit though that the west west Cornwall is my favourite place in the world and would move there in a heartbeat.

I do appreciate a few holidays don't make an existence and there are real issues with equality not just the Notch7 type either. It's a difficult choice to be retired in Devon or West Cornwall.

During the 2nd World unpleasantness, Hitlers foreign minister, Joachim von Ribbentrop, earmarked St Michaels Mount as his new home after the
successful invasion of Britain.

Moved to Cornwall 18 years ago and for many years begrudged travelling back 'up country'. These days I look forward to it. It can feel isolated at times if you need a decent shopping centre (apart from Trago natch). I've made some good local friends but do sometimes despair at the bigotry I occasionally witness. Like everywhere, Cornwall is slowly, very slowly becoming more ethnically diverse and some locals aren't happy about that, which is sad to witness. A friend of mine (black) is a nurse at Truro hospital and it's not uncommon for a patient to reject treatment from him.

You can’t blame him, it’s the best place you can have a pint in the uk.

I understand the factors you mentioned in your other post. It took a while for my work mates to accept a Northerner. It took a bit longer for my in laws!!

And they are very much like the people you describe above.

I do love Cornwall and if we could afford to live the same lifestyle we have at the moment we’d move back down.
