what does it mean to be out on licence? (in relation to a prison term)

The platform smoking post mentions it and the Bulger killing scumbags got out on it...

Is it a bit like paying your electric bill with 'air tokens' ... or doing your 'o' level maths exam with the answers written up your arm?

you are sentenced to 12 yrs

instantly its reduced by 1/3 for/if good behaviour

after 1/2 of sentence(?) you are eligible for parole

if parole granted, you are released on licence, which means that the jail time you would still be doing is monitored on your release. any breaches of your licence means it straaight back to the "tin pail", "ra big hoose", "the thug jug", "BARLINNIE"

Yes, its basically parole. Its pretty complicated and there a number of different types of licence
