Yeah I can’t get up to the bell box to disconnect the back up battery so that’s kyboshed that idea. Cheers for advice though.Up to you, like I said it is doable, you just need to read up on it and think it through.

That’s interesting. I was considering putting a temporary power supply to my old panel once i’d disconnected everything and just leave the bell box cable wired in whilst I installed the new panel and wired everything else in first then wire the bell box in last but wasn’t sure if you could do that. Cheers for your link I may give that a go insteadI'm in a similar situation, I can't get up to the bell box to disconnect the back up battery. Instead i'm going to connect the hold off connections from the bell box to the old alarm's battery. It may go off for a few mins while I faff around with the wiring, but should work in theory.
Here's my thread about it:
Replacing Eurosec CP8L with Texecom Premier Elite
Brilliant thanks for that. Just out of interest I opened a PIR to have a look as I’ve seen talk about resistors need fitting etc and the tamper didn’t activate when I took the front off so I had a peek in the panel and the wires from the tamper terminals in the PIR have just been twisted together. That doesn’t look right to me. Shouldn’t they be wired into the tamp terminals on the pcb in the panel?Take photo of current alarm control panel pcb/wiring
Take bell wire out of panel and connect bell +&- wire onto battery terminals this will stop bell ring while panel change
Ah no worries. I don’t under the resistor part or how/where to wire them so it’s probably best if I leave it and not attempt to swap the panel etc. Cheers for your help.Red on positive terminal of battery
Black on negative terminal of battery
This will stop the bell from ring during panel change
Your pir will require resistors to be fitted to work correctly
Thank you
