Project 2025 is now in full swing:

Massive new powers will be given to the President so that he can override Congress. Twenty thousand party members will be appointed to all the senior positions in the federal bureaucracy. And these twenty thousand loyalists will be trained in a special right wing academy. Finally, there will be a competition open to party loyalists to design a party uniform.

Once you remove the legal protections, a lot of things can happen.

There are previous examples of this around the world.

USA voted for this. But is it what they thought they voted for ?

The biggest issue for me, is that we (UK) are nothing without the USA, and are going to have to fall in line with whatever happens. We made our choice. We are the 51st state in everything but law

I recall, in the 70's I think, one of the union leaders, might have been Arthur Scargill or Red Robbo, was suggesting Eton College should be nationalised and used as a training school for shop stewards.

I was surprised. "Project 2025" sounds really anodyne and I have only just looked into it properly. But this is actually really scary stuff. Coupled with what Vance said yesterday about the President ignoring any court rulings if he believes they encroach on his powers.
