I think the spark that rewired my house bodged my instructions.

I asked for a switch to connect a pond pump.

What he has done is spurred a double socket from the ring main (I know this cause i could only see one wire going into it before plastering).
From this he has wired a single socket (so in effect a spur from a spur).
He knew this point was to be used to connect a pond pump.

Is it possible to install a 3amp fuse in what looks like a 13amp single socket? Or should he have used a FCU?

The two spurs run horizontally through a wall which is L shaped.

i don't want this guy back so could I swap the single socket (if this does not have a 3amp fuse in) for an FCU?

Putting a FCU in place of the single still would not be correct if I understand correctly. Where has he spurred the double socket from? Any chance you can put a FCU in at this point? It would limit the 3 sockets total load to 13 amps.

Have you decorated yet? you could also change the double socket for a single socket next to a FCU (feeding it and the other spur) but you would need a slightly wider dual pattress (back box)

perhps he was assuming you were going to put a plug on it, like most people do

breezer,

thinking about it he probably was.

Can I put a 3amp fuse in a plug and stick this one the pump flex?
I could then stick this in the13amp rcd protected socket.

But he was still wrong to spur off a spur.

As the OP said that the spark spurred a DSO off of the ring main, & from this spurred DSO a SSO was spurred off it. So a spur off of a spur.
