Puncture repairs

Similar sized tire to mine on my KA+, mine is 15" though.
I only paid £57 for mine last week.

I have actually fitted two new tyres to my own car a few years back.

Purchased online and spent an enjoyable Saturday afternoon fitting them.

Apology from Mottie accepted.

The annoying thing about tyres is, even if new, you get a puncture close to the shoulder or wall, it has to be scrapped.
If there is a puncture outside the tread then it needs a vulcanised repair.
Most places don't have the equipment or want to send the tyre away to get it done.

My daughter had to replace a punctured tyre last week due to its side wall being worn down when driven with low pressure.
A week after its replacement, the dashboard monitor flagged up low pressure for the same tyre.
The valve had failed as the centre spindle was poking out. Fortunately I managed to put enough air into the tyre to return car to garage for a fix.
Having maintained my own cars over the last 40+ years, it was my first experience of a valve problem and was shocked to discover that a simple tool exists to screw in the valve spindle.
You learn something every day and my toolbox now has an addition (probably never to be used in anger again)
I'm just thankful I didn't have to struggle with the spare wheel. :)

I doubt tpms valves are changed as a matter of routine.

They aren't 10 a penny like the old valves were

When I was booking my car in to get tyres last time it was an option which I'd never come across before, when I queried it (as previously I had always assumed valves were changed as a matter of course) they said it was unusual to change tpms ones given the cost.

Not all TPMS have TPMS valves. My Evoque, my old Golf and my A3 have standard valves and work off of the ABS sensor. Has the OP stated which valves they have?

At the moment, I can get tyres for my lad's Hyundai i30 tourer (205/55/16) for £51 each for Autogreen (A rated for dry grip) or £85 for Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen 3, including a discount for 4. £90 for 2 ot £100 for one.

Ford is likely to be tpms valves

Likely cause is old valve core removed to deflate tyre and not screwed back in correctly

No idea - I assumed the valve was changed with the tyre. The dash monitoring system flagged up the low pressure.
