I bet they were perfectly balanced...I have actually fitted two new tyres to my own car a few years back.
Purchased online and spent an enjoyable Saturday afternoon fitting them.

If there is a puncture outside the tread then it needs a vulcanised repair.The annoying thing about tyres is, even if new, you get a puncture close to the shoulder or wall, it has to be scrapped.

Most places don't have the equipment or want to send the tyre away to get it done.
