RCD cutting out at same time every night.

If it is getting dark at 7.10 it might be a light on a timer

what time does your neighbour come home and out the kettle on?

What time do the street lights come on?

We have taken away the only timer being used. It's no longer plugged in anywhere in the house. We use our mobile phones as alarms so they aren't plugged in. Our neighbour is home before us.

The street lights have been coming on at varying times since the problem started, especially now it's lighter in the evenings.

You are going to have to start isolating the circuits to rule out what is doing it. The other posts tend to go with heaters etc, Switch off 1 mcb per night before the fault time. Do this until the circuit with the fault opertates the rcd. Then its a case of locating what is causing the fault on the circuit. If this locates fault come back on and someone will give you some help. Its a ball ache but it may help us to help you as we are only guessing from experience.

:D Phoned the company responsible for certifying the electrics. Their engineer phoned and told us he'd charge £150 to look at it! Told him we're assuming it's a faulty RCD. He was adamant about the charge so we agreed if it wasn't a faulty RCD we would pay - if it was then we wouldn't pay anything (he could return the faulty one and get his money back).

A new RCD was fitted - no problems since - no ludicrous call out fee. Yey!
