RCD to Memera 2000

Sorry, but how does that mean that a fused neutral is legal irrespective of whether it was permitted at the time of installation?

Can you point us to a UK regulation that says that a fused neutral has to be changed?

One really can't talk about whether or not it is 'legal', since the only law is Part P of the Building Regs, and that relates only to "design and installation", not to the pre-existing state of an electrical installation.

All one can say is that to install a neutral fuse has presumably been 'illegal' since Part P was introduced in 2004. BS7671, although not law, says nothing about a requirement to remove existing neutral fuses that were permitted at the time of installation.

Kind Regards, John

It's certainly not the only law, e.g. ESQCR and many others.

Do you live in a country where a law says you can be prosecuted and punished for not upgrading your home to modern standards?

I don't.
If you do, please tell us what law you think it is.

That is true. However, to the best of my knowledge, whilst ESQCR may well make it illegal for DNOs etc. to have neutral fuses (no matter when installed), I don't believe that what happens with consumers' installation is within the scope of those Regulations.

If you think there is some other legislation which would make it illegal to have a neutral fuse within a consumer's installation, I would be interested to hear about it.
