firstly the installer was gone by the time i got home and had left brief instructions etc with my wife. I didn't get a chance to ask him these elementary questions, so....

1. Should i need to turn off the rising main at my stop cock for any reason, will the boiler need any attention, or will it cause any problems to the boiler, after it is turned back on?

2. he sent me the invoice and with it was a generic letter about equipotential bonding,

'The new gas installtion pipe supplied from the meter into your premises has not been fitted with main equipotential bonding.'

It goes on to say i am required to inform you that any bonding should be carried out by competent person etc and i advise you to have this checked by national council for Elect installation contracting.

Does this need done and if so who would do it? or should he have done this?

Oh and in case it helps/ matters its a gloworm flexicom 30cx

Thanks for your help

1 Truning off the stop cock wont knacker your combi it will stop water running to your hot taps though

2 did he do the electrics to your boiler? was he Part P?

>1.

no

cause it needs doing

he should have noticed it it done it or gotan elecy to do it you pay for a job start to finish.

hold back some of the money that it's going to cost you to get an elecy to do the job.

thanks for replies.

just to clarify, assuming boiler was off and i turned off stop cock to replace ballcock in cistern for example and then i turned it back on, the boiler would resume normal service for both ch and dhw?

As for question 2, he used the power that did go to the immersion heater for the boiler. i dont know what part P is and have already paid in full. He was recommended and i checked his corgi no etc.

Should i try to argue him into doing this bonding? could any spark do it?

thanks again

>the boiler would resume normal service

yes

any spark can do it
or get on to corgi with his number and tell them he fit your gas boiler etc
but now it don't have any bonding on gas pipe.

So you want him to make out that the installer removed it? It never had any in the first place.

Your installer has done all he should IMO. Get an electrician in and pay for it out of your own money. Its nothing to do with the bloke who fits boilers.

My thoughts exactly

he pays for the job start to finish.

he should of mentioned it when he noticed it and stated that it's not part of his job and not in the price.

not mention it when he gets home

mind you a plumber that uses the immersion fuse to supply a boiler says it all

never heard of changing the fuse from a 13 to a 3

smartass

it's dickhe ads like you that have ball sed this industry up

no you did not

the likes of you ain't doing the job

you do the lot or nothing

personally pr atts like you this industry can do without

If I'm putting a combi in an old airing cupboard, then I would always use the old immersion fused spur for the power supply. Obviously, I would change the fuse.

Why would anyone do it any differently?

Am I missing something here or is hi-spec talking complete rubbish?

>it's dickhe ads like you that have ball sed this industry up

least all my staff can cert all their gas, elecy, unvented and go home and sleep

knowing that i've got happy customers.

mind you when you's work from big companys you don't care, what is it get in get out don't look back.

maybe you should stick to trolley pushing.
