I have got a socket outlet that needs taking permanently out and cable reinstated for ring continuity. The area is to be plastered over so a jb is out of the question, how do I join back both ends?
I have heard of crimps, but how exactly?

Whether or not you can do this depends on the location of the socket in relation to other electrical accessories in the room and the safe zones.

If the socket is a drop from the ceiling or up from the floor then it's unlikely you'll be able to crimp and plaster over, as there'll no longer be any visual indication in the future that the cable is there. Read about safe zones in the WIKI and it should make more sense.

Any chance of jointing elsewhere? Under the floor? Loft?

You need something to indicate their is a cable buried there (Regs), why not just install a 1G socket and make use of the ring?

The wall was being partially knocked down, so maybe cable can be routed into the floor or ceiling void?

If the cable comes from the ceiling void then it would make sense to take a small section of the floor up above (or make a hole in the ceiling if you're plastering anyway), pull the cables back up and crimp joint them in the void.
