Hi the ancient staircase to our loft room is knackered, half of the treads and risers are split and need replacing - I'm weighing up wether to repair or replace the whole thing.
It currently turns left, which is tight to the chimney breast, if I am going to replace it I'd rather it turned right as there's more space for access - but regarding building regulations would this still count as fair game for 'better than what's already there but not meeting current regs replacement'?
Or am I better off just repairing it as best I can?
