Hi All,

Parents in laws boiler isn't igniting (Thorn Olympic 20/35F), had a look over it and the spark electrode has a big crack in it.

Now I'm pretty sure the boiler is as old as I am, normally they are about £20 to buy but the only ones I can find for sale are £300 (one sold on ebay a few months ago for 35), for that price it would be more efficient to finally get them a new boiler.

Anyone any idea where I may be able to get my hands on one without getting my eyes ripped out? Would another one fit?

Yeah that thing's a good 5 years older than me. My parts list says virtually everything is obsolete on it. It was only 75% efficient when new, probably less now. It's given great service, time to think about a new one.

Yeah it's been needing replaced for more than a few years now. It keeps refusing to die with normally only little things needing changed (I thought an electrode would be a reasonable price to get), unfortunately the only 2 I can get may just push it to get replaced.

Unfortunately as well so far most are asking for 5k to replace it with new radiators, new pipework and new boiler.
