Replacement Immersion (Economy7) controller

Hello,
I have an Economy 7 immersion heater with a Pactrol Micro7Plus timer connected to it.

Question:
Can I just replace this with any other make/model (i.e. are they much of a muchness) - e.g. http://www.ryness.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=11454

Reason:
Unreliable electric supply so I'm forever having to reset the timer so it doesn't heat during the day instead of when the electric is cheaper at night, consequently am thinking a model with a battery backup could solve my problem!

Don't know anything about Pactrol timers, but don't see why not.

Just been here: http://www.pactrol.com and their water heater timer products are listed as obsolete...
