Thanks for your comments, Notch, It gave me cause for thought.
Musk and his X platform (formerly twitter) have been rightly criticised for allowing agitators to foment racist hatred and division on twitter.
I believe there have been some criticism of his platform spreading disinformation as well.

Don't you have any concerns that DIYnot, in their own little way, have provided a similar platform to self-confessed and closet racists, and disinformation, albeit, on a smaller scale.
Aren't they as equally guilty as twitter and musk for allowing these people to exploit the platform?
Whether it is site owners, Admin or Mods who are responsible for providing this platform for racist comments to be posted and repeated, they should all share equal responsibility.

What is really concerning is that the provision of the platform for the spreading of bigoted hatred appears to have existed for many years if the legends are to be believed.
Your comments seem to reinforce the legend of some objecting to and criticising racist comments being banned, multiple times.
Whereas self-confessed and closet racists such as reganandcarter, algas, mottie etc, have been allowed to continue posting their bigotry for many, many years, and without hindrance or control.

And for the dismissal of comments, I am fully aware of the restriction on commenting on Mods, etc in these forums.
Do they not have the dignity to respond or to justify their immoral actions?

I suspect that the racist posters will be allowed to continue their self-confessed and closet racism when and if I disappear again.

I am struggling to understand how a non-violent protest could result in damage? But in any case there only needs to be the threat of violence and a perceived risk to safety and it's a riot.

I wondered if the usual suspects would argue that because some of those convicted pleaded guilty to violent disorder rather than rioting, it was evidence that it wasn’t a riot.

It is of course nonsense.

People plead guilty to lesser crimes all the time.

There is nothing in the legislation that says someone must be convicted of rioting for the compensation to kick in.

My last comment was a "wait and see" suggestion.
The 2016 Act has not yet been tested in the real world.
I proposed we agree to differ until such time as more light is shed on the issue.
