I don't suppose that'll help his 8 and 3 yr old when they want their Daddy........ :(

The same boy he held in one arm, while feeding a hungry croc with the other? Ar53hol3......

i'm not saying he deserved to die, just that that was a f*****g stupid thing to do.

oh c'mon secure, he knew what he was doing. he always seemed to have the crocs under control. I know theres no predicting what a wild animal can do, but he did have some "link" with them - he could tell what they were going to do etc, sort of like i can tell with my dog when she's going to leap at me when i'm tormenting her. Same sort of thing.

And he did want his death to be shown on TV - front page of the Star today. Though I suspect he made this remark based on the thinking he would die wrestling a croc, and it making good TV. ;) Pretty unspectacular death, being speared through the heart by a Stingray.

The irony is, this guy spent half his life wrestling with deadly animals which would almost certainly kill him, given the chance, and he was killed by a comparitively sedate animal. Stingrays rarely attack, and when they do its rarely fatal.

I actually don't like that he had the baby near the croc either as (as we've sadly seen) even the most experience pros can get things wrong but I do think that he honestly didn't believe his son was in danger

Either way I don't see why it makes the point you quoted any less valid? Those kids will now grow up without their Dad - rarely a good thing in my opinion and the saddest part of what has happened as I see it.

I think the point SS is trying to make is that it is perhaps acceptable to gamble with ones own life, but to put others in danger through your actions (i.e. holding ones child, whilst goading a croc) is not acceptable and is truly wreckless. "He knew what he was doing" yes I'm sure he did, he was interacting with wild animals whose actions are sometimes unpredicable, and unfortunately with fatal consequences sometimes.

they are going to screen his death soon seeing as it was one of his wishes if he did die on screen

 i would watch but not sure if its the right thing to do

Hmmn the report I read said it was unlikely the footage would ever be screened, I'll try and find the article in a bit.

They played a bit of his shows on some of the screens in Walkabout - an ozzy bar - last night. Even without the sound, you could tell a lot of it was acted out - like the baddies and the goodies, fighting on top of a moving range rover etc. like that'd ever happen. But the bits involving the crocs were certainly real.

Then the DJ said "right lets have a minutes silence for STEVE IRWIN!!!"

2 seconds later, some had shut up, some were still dancing and shouting, so he said "yeah, f*** that, this one's for you steve!" and played something by the Killers  Mr Brightside i think. Always gets 'em dancing in Walkabout

During an interview, Steve Irwin was asked what were his favourite TV shows as a child. He replied that he always liked Thunderbirds, but that Stingray would always have a special place in his heart.

only enlarge the above in a word processor if you like sick jokes.

i've edited it so only those who want to see it will see it. i can see how some might be offended. While i liked the bloke (didn't everyone?) i'm sure he would have liked us to remember him in whatever way we can. In the past 2 days i have recieved the 2 jokes mentioned above from people i know via SMS. One was from my dad!
