The making or telling of such jokes in the face of tragedy is a very British thing! Personally I have no problem with it and received both of those jokes by text message yesterday morning! [edited to say - Crafty got his reply in first saying the same!]

Seriously though, a great character who will be missed, and my condolences go out to his family. I heard on the news today that his father has asked that it not be made into a big "state funeral" as he was just an ordinary bloke and wouldn't have wanted that. Fair play to him.

Don't know him, never met him so how can you know if you like him or not, but he seemed abit of a plonker to me! but you can never really tell with tv personalties whether their characters are invented by the programme makers or not, I've always been suspicious that jamie oliver was invented as a cheeky chappie, he's far too young to have done the things he says he's done. but hey ho!

Slogger you seem a little confused. The ETD is not really an EU issue - in fact it applies mainly to parts of the world which are not a part of the European Union. eg the Isle of Man or the Cayman Islands. The BNP seem to be a single issue party. I don't think they'll be getting my vote.
