Next on the list are council house dwellers who are to be denied the right to buy the house they have paid 1000's in rent on.
That's good.

Unless those houses are replaced why should they be sold off cheaply for no gain to the public purse ?

400 a year Notch.
When you take inflation into account, its not much.
It's actually over currrent inflation levels. There was also an earlier increase accounting for inflation at that time ~10% ???

Good job labours deputy leader got in early in buying her council house :giggle:
This Labour government has the smell of Blairism about them.
I don't support Labour or Conservative, i take them by policy by policy, the Conservatives did some positive things when in power, as have Labour.

I know personally people who have benefitted from from the right to buy scheme and escaped from the council ghetto.

Brexit was supposed to be Britain for the British, private enterprise was to be encouraged to generate wealth for the nation.
The wealth generated should be taxed to redistribute down to those at the bottom, while those at the top still do ok.

The right to buy scheme was an innovative way to redistribute wealth and help those at the bottom to improve their circumstances.

If the money generated by council house sales is used to build more council house homes for working class people to rent with the option to buy at some point, then that would give those who are disadvantaged the right to join those who have benefitted from not being born poor.

It's a big if.

It doesn't work like that.. but I agree any council house sold off should be replaced with the money from the sale of the house. But not sold off at a reduced value, or it only benefits a few and that's not what council housing should be about
