Sanity check on plumbing quote

Depends mate. If it's local and through a mutual contact, I'll go at no cost but other enquiries then I'll at least try and make sure there's a chargeable job I can do whilst there, looking at the other stuff.
As @johnny2007 wrote... there's too many ****takers about!
I can see both your points im in a privileged position were everything i look at is no more than ten minutes away and dont need to make a special journey can just nip in when passing . i forget that to do my max of a mile and half away, in london can take yous an hour to get to

and shouldnt be charging for coming out to quote wouldnt have allowed him in the door minute he said that
In London is different.
You'll be struggling to find someone to do the job, let alone giving you a free quote.
I used to get lots of calls to quote for kitchens.
All ****stakers trying to get a written quote and free plans to then haggle with some cowboys.
I stopped doing free plans and only designed simple sketches by hand there and then.
Free quotes in London are only for known customers, unless you're wickes or howdens or any of the big ones.

Even if everything straightforward that's not a half day job esp if pipework to rads needs altering. 1 day, plus time to purchase materials...if day rate is £350 to £400 I'd say 1.5 days is more reasonable + materials. Thus I'd go with Notch7s estimate, personally (also not a plumber).

It can take an hour to set up and another to clear up!

Gas safe plumber... all a bit busy with winter coming on. No need for anybody expensive... To be honest two of those jobs you could do yourself.. The TRV is just screw on and off,the mixer is not a difficult job, plenty of people just DIY it...

Any handman should be able to do that....

I often get told "our last plumber wasn't very good".

I only have to look at the work they'd done to know they weren't plumbers.

Let alone gas safe.
why do they need to be gas safe..... they are not working on a gas appliance .... what do you think having a gas safety qualification somehow makes you any good at fitting a tap ????

If the radiator system is a sealed pressurised one, then replacing radiators will need someone who is qualified to work on such systems. I guess the shorthand way to identify such tradesmen is "gas safe".
If the system is old school vented with a Feed & Expansion tank, then anyone can work on it.

So a DIYer can not turn off the boiler turn off the rad valves and replace a radiator - it has to be a gas safe engineer

You do not need to be a GS engineer, nor do you need to actually have any qualifications to work on your own radiators , irrespective of the system being sealed and pressurised or open vented.
Working on unvented hot water cylinders however is a different thing altogether,as is working on gas appliances.

Rubbish...
