SDS core drills

If it is just an SDS drill you want you can't go wrong with the Wickes SDS drills. They are made by Kress in Germany. Top quality and not that expensive either. Better than DeWalt, Bosch and Makita and a 5 year guarantee, while the so called top makes give only one.

1 / bosch give a 3 year warranty if you bother to register on-line
2/ if you want it for diamond cores over 2" dont waste your money on a sds drill , from a safety aspect the clutch kicks in too late , you would be suprised how many sds core adaptors ive seen broken or twisted
3/ get a makita 8406 , yes its expensive but it WILL do the job. We have about 6 in our "hire fleet" and maybe one a year needs to be fettled and i can assure you that they do get abused
4/ dont get the more powerful 8406c (i think thats the one) as its more trouble than its worth

btw the 8406 is the ONLY makita drill i would reccomend over the equivelant bosch

ps in the old days dewalt was called black and decker professional which was a superb range of tools , then it all changed to elu , and a downward turn in quality then it changed its name to dewalt and another downward turn in quality .
At the moment i would say that bosch are really getting it right - the new turbo tough cordless are brilliant and the lithium cordless seem to be the only Li tools that arnt getting any stick

I had a metabo for three years used it every day. it had a kango, sds, and wood.used to core with it as well. It finally give up. Thought i would try a bosch. It lasted one week. Brought another one . I don't think it finished the day. im back on Metabo.

Remind me never to lend you any tools

Bosch blue are superb tools in my experience.

and AEG used to be my favourite cordless back in the day but Im not sure if they are any good nowadays?

Anyone got any experience of AEG present day tools?http://www.toolmix.com/browse/product.asp?pid=81464&s52cnc=FROOGLE-UK&s52r=FROOGLEUK

Better than DeWalt, Bosch and Makita

says who?

my comments on bosch are based on experience and fact. what exactly makes the wickes drill 'better'?

It is a quality product made by Kress in Germany and been around for over 10 years. Based on experinece and others who have used and abused them. They come with a 5 year guarantee.

I have bad experiences with Bosch tools and avoid them just in case.
