I have noticed recently several posts asking about 'Minor Work'.
What is it?
What is the alternative to this Minor Work?
Presumably it is Major Work - or is it?
We have an 'Electrical Installation Certificate' and (because of the usual haphazard use of words by the powers that be) a 'Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate'.
On page 4i8 of BYB under the heading of 'Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate' the text starts (to further confuse) with 'The Minor Works Certificate'.
Is it a 'Minor - E I Works Certificate' or a 'Minor E I Works - Certificate'?
The text then lists the permitted uses of the MEIWC which specifically excludes New Circuits and Consumer Units - two of the remaining (in England) three notifiable works.
So the choice of certificate is still not related to notification.
Obviously an EIC can be used for any work - however important you consider it.
