Yes I think the water industry should be nationalised.
No I'm not confident it would then be managed competently - necessarily better than it is now.
What would be the role of Ofwat? It seems to have done poorly and cost a lot for years, paid for by HMG.
Why would it do a better job when criticising an HMG department?
We "lost" hundreds of quangos because they were costing billions. So how the heck do you set up a body which is trustworthy, competent and value for money?
There are 54 institutions offering Public Administration qualifications, to Masters, in the UK so it shouldn't be hard to find staff.
The CEO of Ofwat currently does it as a part-time, 3 day a week job, for about £100kpa.
