Sexy burglar alarm..?

The world of boring thermostats has moved on, but burglar alarms maybe less so. Is that a fair comment? Are there any recommendations for an alarm system where the keypad is aesthetically comparable to, say, a Honeywell Evohome thermostat, or a Nest Protect smoke alarm?

I'm looking for a new alarm system for a small house (2 door sensors, 2 PIRs, preferably wireless) and would love to hear from anyone who would recommend something snazzy! I understand security isn't supposed to be sexy, but neither is calling for heat from your boiler... a Nest thermostat is quite sexy, and it's what it does.

I ain't joking. Doing a refurb and I want stuff to look good... beige walls = OK, beige devices on those walls = not OK. We've gotta get with the times and not meekly accept the same old crap.

Enforcer stick it in a cupboard and use fobs or stick a chrome flush keypad on it

I still want a keypad by the entrance, not fobs. I prefer to know something, or even be something, rather than have something. It should be a high-gloss touchscreen affair, which is dark until you approach it and then the number pad lights up, with a brushed metal trim... any candidates?

Stripping multi-layers of 70s wallpaper at the moment, so getting my shopping list built-up... rewire happening, but would still prefer to go wireless.

Will go Nest thermostat. Contemplating Nest Protect, but need 3 and they're not cheap. Hoping for a recommendation as to snazzy, visible, burglar alarm... don't care what any control panel might look like.

seriously, no wires you aint going to get everything you want, if your buying it yourself texecom has some sexyish detectors and keypads etc.

as for lighting up on the approach it would when the entries started maybe but not usually any other time, you can make it so its dark until you press a button maybe or the entry started but that requires a wire(min 4 core).

nest sexy, need your glasses checking ?

dont think the enforcer panel is ugly but I wouldn't call the detectors sexy

Nest is definitely more pleasing to the eye than many beige Sunvic, Danfoss and Honeywell stuff I've had.

Let me research Texecom, ta, I've never heard of them...

Lighting up on approach just requires a sensor in the keypad and a bit of code as a timer, I've programmed that kind of stuff with a PIC... nothing needs to be connected to anything for the keypad to be dormant until you approach it and then it lights up.

The Texecom FMK/SMK Satin Chrome is probably their snazziest keypad... it's a bit disappointing, though. It doesn't stand out as a rethink or being very forward-thinking in design terms. It's just a set of buttons in a metal box. But maybe that is my limit?

to be honest the touch screen keypads I am not keen on, cleaning, you want to wipe it clean after you disarm to remove your finger prints.

look nice they do, and if you home automate say with control 4 you may get sexier still as you can utilise
