granted the keypads look good, it has some nice features, but is everything sexy.
Certainly the new ones are worth a look, if your thinking of the cameras you will need to check that you have access to the images (if that's what you want), when I went on the training for this some time ago, I was told that images were available to ARC only.

No, no cameras... just want good-looking visible bits, not all-singing-all-dancing. I think that's the best keypad I've seen.
But that visonic isn't even an LCD. Just a pre-etched touch. The current offerings are really poor. There are plenty of low cost tablets that would make great wall mounted touch keypads. Just needs some sort of easy mount with wireless charger stuffed in a standard drywall box, then connect via Wifi and app. Alarm companies are about 10 years behind in technology terms.

As for behind, there are certain fields that move faster than others, the tablets batteries would need docking for power as they aren't going to last so long power wise?

Both are glass touchscreen. The Risco looks a bit like an iPad and the SPC is blank glass until touched.

The light sys isn't available outside trade?
Not used the others but worth noting, but the fingerprints, when I did the light sys training the keypads it had finger prints all over them, put me right off touch screen keypads.

The latency will ultimately be its downfall. Will simply become irrelevant when consumed by another technology.
Battery life probably at its best if always connected to the wireless power source.
Those glass 'touchscreens' are just etched glass with some backight and some sort of touch sensitivity. The Honeywell touch center has a touch LCD, but it's crap resolution and a resistive pad - basically a car sat nav from about 10 years ago and it's £200+
wireless power scares the living daylights out of me, being able to charge devices up at the other side of a room without it being connected.
No, just standard wireless power within an inch for this. Just fit a 12V wireless power device inside a standard square socket drywall box with a modified blanking plate/tablet holder that screws onto the drywall box. The tablet is then charged when mounted and no wires are visible. I was thinking of prototyping this at a point where I used to have a keypad in my hallway. The wall has been made good since removing my original Galaxy keyprox, but the alarm cable is still in the cavity. Just don't know if I want a keypad visible in the hallway again. Can do some stuff in software to make the code entry more intelligent to avoid fingerprint history - image selection Etc.
