The party that is lead by a liar then lies to you.

Farmers are angry and upset they have been lied to. What did they expect? The leopart ate my face party.

An award-winning Lincolnshire farmer says he feels betrayed by the Conservative government after it failed to include legal protection for UK agriculture in any future trade deals with third world countries.

He added that some MP’s told farmers they wouldn’t be prepared to vote in favour of this in Parliamant, which they had “no problem” with.

Mr Wards says others who made “false promises”, however, and have now lost his vote.

“They betrayed us and lied to us,” he continued.

“They told us they’d do it because they wanted our support but when the time came they didn’t do it.

Read this joint letter from the National farmers Union, RPSB, RSPCA, National Trust etc

Snipped from Sir G's post...

But here's the problem- it's really simple. People (Mr Ward in this case, but all the Cummings complainers to MPs too) cry foul about the lying b'strds in power. "They're a shower of poo, the lot of them!" Then they vote for their local tory. "Ah, but he's a good un, see, straight as a die".

They are too stupid to see that NOBODY votes for a PM, Chancellor, Foreign Sec etc. Too stupid to see that THEY are perpetuating what they think is the shower of poo-poo.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

what they were asking could be said for any industry though, the steel industry is an example that has been decimated by cheaper imports, mining, manufacturing etc

granted these industries do not have public health to consider, but countries like turkey and america aren't suffering mass food related death pandemics, so there must be a worldwide minimum standard..

to clarify my position on this i am sitting on the fence, but have presented a view from the other side

You need to look into the number of cases of food borne infections in the US and deaths in farm work.

Food standards are the first to go then it will be worker rights.
