Should people who refuse a Covid vaccine be denied treatment or charged for it?

No need for anyone to feel like a pariah. There will be 2 consequences for them that I can think of, neither of which needs a tattoo on the forehead...

1. Herd immunity (I think) relies on x% being vaccinated so that the amount of virus in the community is lowered, thus protecting the non-jabs.
2. Only an opinion, but I think insurers will use the opportunity to deny or restrict cover; or more importantly, to refuse payment on an exclusion clause, after a claim is made.

2 is only important to travellers really, but that's a lot of bucket-and-spade hols affected. Maybe. Other countries might make demands too, but that's their issue.

It already has turned nasty...

'Anti vaxxer' is now a bandied about term that was once only reserved for 'terrorists' or 'paedophiles'...

Mass hysteria created over a miniscule 'threat', but it makes good press for the media barons and politicians!

Nope, nothing of the sort. Anti vaxxers is the term I reserve for nut-jobs like flat-earthers, climate change deniers, school shooting deniers, Darwin deniers and the like. Not people who choose not to have a jab.

One jab or all jabs?

My concern with covid is, unless the vaccine is compulsory, those electing not to have it might be made to feel like pariahs. And knowing how irrational some can be about this whole thing, it could turn nasty.

WHAT? Shall they also rename the country The People's Democratic Kingdom of GB and NI?

Deary deary me. So you deduce because I refer to something I must therefore think it should be so? I'd better not type 'unless Kim Jong-Un is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize ...' or you'll assume I think he should be awarded it.

It's also something with precedent in the UK.

For example, an 1853 law required universal vaccination against smallpox in England and Wales, with fines levied on people who did not comply
The US has mandatory vaccination to attend public school and has for over 100 years.

I do not know what North Koreas approach to vaccination is.

Far far to early to worry about people not taking it. We havn't even started doling it out yet, and considering the mess the gov makes with about every thing, I will be surprised if 10% have been vaccinated by spring and 50% by xmas 21 - like everything else this will just turn into a massive farce like most other things these days.

So place your bets now, what percentage of the UK will have had the jab (any covid vaccine) by 31st March 2021

I'm going with 9.5%

20%
They've got to justify the trillions paid to Pfizer and the three covid knights...
It will then remain around that figure, because so far I haven't met anyone willing to be stabbed with this unknown substance.
Even the hardcore mask wearers, the ones who live on their own and wear it indoors, don't want it.
So this thing called vaccine is for care home residents who can't refuse, medical staff which would be sacked if they refused, and a very small minority of life gamblers.

This surely fits better in my crystal ball thread?

I think the aim is to have the first wave covered by then, which is around 25% of the country or 17 million ish.

The Pfizer Vaccine is leading the charge but the heavy lifting will be done by Astra Zenica. Once that's available then it's a much simpler challenge and it doesn't take that long to teach a couple of battalions of squaddies how to use a hypodermic rather than a bayonet.

If the at risk people don't want the doses then they'll go to less at risk people who do. I'm all for people refusing it, that mean I get it sooner to protect me from them.

Ok, but I do not see why I cannot respond to the part I emboldened whatever you think should be or deduce.
I still think what you wrote implies you think compulsion would be the lesser of two evils.

It could also turn nasty if they make the vaccination compulsory.

If you wrote and thought to be true:
No one will take the vaccine unless Kim Jong-Un is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, then...

utter nonsense

Or as johnny 2007 himself would say, Total boll@x!

Sorry but you're 100% wrong ;)

We were asked an opinion and I gave mine.
It's an opinion, a gamble about how many people will be vaccinated by spring 2021.
Unless you can see into the future, any number is good.
But I like the boll@x thing... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

If you think that someone who so so close to death from cancer will be tested for Covid, then obviously you are not thinking rationally.

As to how to many people to whom this could occur, do you have an estimate that you've thought of?

Thinking, now there's an idea!

Actually Himmy/Bobby or whoever you are, it's you who's not thinking rationally and you're completely wrong. This taken from another forum -

QUOTE --- Dick, care homes are full of mainly elderly people anyway (I don't mean that in an uncaring way either) so people die (it's expected) I now work on a specialist End of Life ward, (mainly cancer patients in their final few weeks of life). We have covid on the ward, staff off in quarantine. Thing that gets me is if a patient get's tested positive for covid then dies, it's counted in the statistics that they were a victim of covid. It might have hastened their death by hours or a few days at most, but almost certainly didn't cause their death. I've been tested for covid antibodies and that came back positive, so I have had covid at some point this year. If I die in twenty years time, will I be counted in the statistics? I could see the dept of health saying Johnny boy had that covid twenty years ago, put that down as the cause.

Still have unquestioning faith in those government stats, Himmy? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
