You're so in love with combis, I sometimes wonder if you and bigburner are siamese twins

Combis are ok for flats and small houses, I love unvented systems at moment but people can`t afford to have them installed, they`re GRREAT! :D don`t know BigBurner.

Chill Guys!!!

Bambergaspipe......yes, you were the first to say go with combi, and I thank you fo your input.....but Mogget gave me the information I needed to help make the choice.....info I badly needed, as I was totally ignorant on the subject.
Swidders picked up on the disability factor.....I had no idea there was maintainance involved in the tank/pump type system, so thanks for that...as for doors in baths....scare the bejesus outa me waiting for it to leak LOL.....and I already bought a shower & enclosure that weighs around 69kg......not paying to post it to someone else from E-bay!!

So, work together guys, you make a great team, and I'm grateful to ALL of you!!
So.....who knows what size boiler I need......hands up please!!

So.....who knows what size boiler I need......

Probably between a 24 or 28kilowatt, you need to have someone come in measure your rooms etc, it will be between the two I would think.

We'd need the flow rate of the shower in litres per minute.

Also the gas pipe may need upgrading depending on what's there already

or, the belt and braces approach... chuck the washing machine in the shed and bolt a vaillant 937 in its place

Never :!:

Bamber, turn your head sideways and look at your other head - that's bigburner

Diddly4u - can't give you a size of boiler as we don't know the size of the bungalow for a start, nor whether it's double glazed, insulated etc We know you have 11 radiators, but that's not enough to diagnose.

Get at least three quotes with specifications of what they advise. Then get back on the forum for clarification of their suggestions. That's when the real fun starts!!!

I'd have thought that unless this bungalow is massive, even a 24kw combi would have enough output to the CH.

I suspect the hot water will be the deciding factor, and also suspect that in practical terms, with this shower 30kw or more would be appropriate, but...

The sums will still have to be done :!:

Ok guys & gals,
Will phone some plumbers/gas fitters tmo for some quotes, then I'll be back on here for that fun you promised Swidders!!

Thank you all so much for the help & info, I'll call it a night....I've learned loads today, and got loads more to do tmo.

Watch this space for updates on the situation.

Night night ;)

Good job you`re not a gas fitter then.

How many more proviso's do you need?

And just in case anyone failed to notice, my comment about the 937 was a joke.

Nope, that was Muppet, er..Mogget. ;)

 So it was

Serious point, assuming many things I know, would a 24 or 28 provide enough flow for this shower the op's got? Thought they were quite heavy in their water requirements. Would a 9-12 lpm @35C be enough?

And here I was trying to protect your honour. OK, I may have totally quoted completely the wrong person entirely out of context, but that's not the point
