slate tiles

What size are they? Generally, the bigger the slate (especially the width) the lower the pitch

They are 10" in width so I represume they are 12" in height. Looks like the are double layered

They are what's called 'double lapped' and the probable length is either 20" or 18" and a slim chance of being 16"

The minimum pitch for a 20x10 or 18x10 slate with a 110mm headlap is 25 deg

A 16x10 slate with a 100mm headlap is 30 deg

Hope this helps

Thats unfortunate as the roof design I am working on is based around a 15 deg pitch.

To overcome the problem of uplift and rain getting underneath is there an option to double felt under the battens to get away with having 15 deg

Is there a similar modern product which has the same aesthetics but can cope with the pitch

I don't go along with the double felting or Ondutile type underlay as they are based on allowing water into the roof structure which can ultimately rot rafters etc.

Have a look at the Redland Cambrian slate which goes down to 15 degrees

try again

Does anyone know about Eternit tiles are they better than the redland
