Following on from checking the consumption of my UV / HV fly trap killer - I have just got around to checking the consumption of my Smart Plugs and they seem to draw around 0.5w pulsing to 0.7w when 'phoning home', a similar consumption to one of those plug in heated scent dispensers. So around 0.014p per hour or £1.23 per annum, at 28p Kwh.
As the fly trap likely works best after dark, I was thinking to maybe use it via a SM. As it only draws a similar wattage to the SM's it cost/waste more to do that. Really, the SM's are only worth using where they can save a little consumption, or save a little wear and tear, or they offer some convenience in automatic, or remote operation convenience.
