Someone is trying to start a war in the Ukraine, It's NOT Russia (edit: yes it is)

NONSENSE and PROPAGANDA are what Hummy spouts.
Lives in the cesspit that is London it seems.
Bricking it by the sounds of it, understandably. . I bet there’s a Russian nuke lined up for central London just waiting for code to be tapped in.

The truth regarding language:

How Russia weaponizes the language issue in Ukraine

That headline should read: “how the humanitarian weaponises language in Ukraine

Despite the upgrade of Ukrainian following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the language has continued to play second fiddle to Russian throughout much of the country and in many aspects of everyday life. Ever since the 1990s, efforts to regulate and promote the use of Ukrainian in place of Russian have proved politically explosive and have come to symbolize independent Ukraine’s post-Soviet identity crisis. Meanwhile, the national debate on the language issue has reflected lingering divisions within Ukrainian society over attitudes towards the dominant role played by Russia in the country’s past

Quotes from a newspaper are below and link near the bottom of the page. (Almost what I've been saying EG the west has been pushing evil putin into this invasion at the cost of the Ukrainian people and the west is guilty of turning Iraq/Libya etc into cesspits. Both sides are wrong and the ordinary public suffers whilst politicians the west/Russia have their bunkers)

Re Ukraine

In a country crammed with Russians, they were trying to make Russian a second-class language.

Russians who had lived there happily for decades were pressured to take Ukrainian citizenship and adopt Ukrainian versions of their Christian names.

The schools were promoting a national hero, Stepan Bandera, who Russians strongly disliked and regarded as a terrorist.

And they were teaching history which often had an anti-Russian tinge. Quite a few people told me they felt put upon by these policies. Why couldn't they just be left alone?

I tire of being told that Nato is purely defensive alliance when we know it bombed Serbia in 1999, incidentally killing civilians, when Serbia had not attacked a Nato member.

I also don't recall Libya attacking a Nato member before that 'defensive' alliance launched the air war on Tripoli which also killed civilians, children included, and turned that country into a cauldron of chaos, benefiting nobody.

And then there's the other thing that sticks in my gullet. The countries of the West have egged Ukraine on into a confrontation with Russia which has predictably ended in Putin's barbaric invasion.

But while we stand and cheer at a safe distance, the Ukrainians are the ones who get shelled, bombed, besieged and driven from their homes. Is this honourable? Does sentimental praise for their bravery make up for it?

FACT

PS: New added today Sunday 6/2/22: I've always said that the UK the USA and her cronies have turned Libya, Iraq into cesspits and would have done it to Syria if they could. The Russians are no better and to be clear when I mention the 'uk/usa/russia' on the whole I'm referring to the politicians and their cronies that can afford to talk/act big as they are armchair warriors and have access to well-stocked nuclear bunkers but the ordinary public does not..

The uk/west/usa kept on pushing russia, the politicians in Ukraine did exactly as per the article above.
Putin is nasty and like any leader in trouble at home, he will do what it takes to distract the people at home and that is another FACT

Just to be clear, from what I understand, in any nuke war the attackers would target all RAF and NAVAL bases, main cities and any other place of interest that we many not be aware of. IMO, thos not taken out in the first strike of 30/40 nukes will suffer hard from the fallout and have nothing to turn to.

I'm glad you find it funny. As for "London being a cesspit" you are partially right kid but I guess you live in a nice council tower block and have never been out of that and note most towns/cities have their cesspits as well as ok areas.

I pity you, honeslty.

What a surprise, the humanitarian has no counter argument when presented with facts

please back this up with evidence, or do the decent thing and retract
FYI and this is aimed at the abusers here, Putin is wrong and he is a typical leader that is doing whatever he can get away with to distract from the woes he faces at home and that is a FACT. I have never trusted any politician and fell for the mass hysteria of "WMD" and you know the rest, IE that country and other countries are now cesspits thanks to the west on the whole.
The invasion of Ukraine started well over a week ago and to avoid even more bloodshed, there needs to be peace and that means a ceasefire and honest talks re longer lasting peace for the ordinary people that always suffer the most.

I do not agree with the Hitchins bloke most of the time but this time he has hit the nail on the head. It is as though I'd written the article.

Bottom line: Putin as any world leader puts himself first but is is more evil than most.
Putin needs to go but we need to be careful who replaces him.
NB: Boris and his flyweight side kick Truss need to shut their big gobs and stop the rhetoric
and actually enforce the sanctions rather than bang on about them

Thank you and do report this thread as you do as you can't stand anyone disagreeing with your blinkered views.

Jeez us all this talk about as to why Putin invaded

language discrimination

Ukraine joining nato

EU ‘s fault

why not go back to 1945 ? When
General Paton was relieved of his command for threatening to kick the Russians out of Berlin

as said we are where we are and what happened years ago makes no odds

the clock cannot be reset

it’s time to put up or shut up

but this time he has hit the nail on the head. It is as though I'd written the article

The article is untrue, it is a lie.

I have proven it is untrue.

Please retract your dishonest claims
Please stop posting this dishonest article.

don’t you remember Kosovo?

Quote me and not Peter Hutchins of the Daily Mail. Yes, I know I may my points wel and you easily get confused.

Rather than make excuses what is your plan for peace???

I'm no military person but do have loads of common sense and for that reason, I see it for what it is and what needs to happen next

Thanks
