Speeding fine

if I remember correctly, speed awareness courses are for first time offenders and you need to be recommended, it is not a god given right, so if either you have been done for speeding before, it rules you out.
I could be wrong though, my memory is not as it once was.

Where am I:confused:

I was offered the course with no fine a couple of months back. I have had points previously too. However they had been cleared of the licence before the new offence.

It annoys when people do a crime, then do everything they can to find a loophole.
You DO know who did it, fess up, if you have 9 points on your license, and your partner has none, blame her, it won't affect anything, but would ban you. Or just take the hit. You broke the law. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Hardly crime of the century. But don't attempt to weasle out of the punishment by using excuses, and pathetic pleas for loopholes in the law. Good men have been sent to the gallows, where you moan ohh! 3 points boo hoo!!!! How can I escape such a punishment. Get over it. That kind of whinnying pathetic 'oh I was caught, but I'm innocent', when clearly you are not gets boring. WOW a £60 and 3 points, jee wizz.

Contest it in court. I hope you get prison time. I'm sure when you were breaking the law, speeding along, breaking the law, that you had no thought of my children, that might have stepped out into the road, unaware of your anti-social speeding, and you ran them over and killed them, as you broke the law, and failed to pull up quickly enough to prevent their death or serious injury?

My brother is tetraplegic, in a wheelchair, because of an irresponsible driver, such as you, that decided to break the rules of the road. So I hope you are happy that you didn't kill or injure anyone, because of your irresponsible behaviour, but feel the need to wean off responsibility, possibly pass the blame to others, and look for any way out of accepting responsibility for what you have done, then look for acceptance, to look for a way out of accepting the consequences?

Disgusting.

Mickymoody, we think it was probably my wife who was driving, but we aren't sure. Can you remember where you and your wife were on December the 1st, now? I doubt it.
if you have 9 points on your license, and your partner has none, blame her,
That would be illegal, immoral and the rest.
You're the one who's being whining and "disgusting" here. Maybe that's all you do on this forum. It doesn't need people like you.

I asked
Anyone been down this route?

sounds like a NO so far then.

Thanks for the law tips.
They posted it 9 days after the event and I got it 7 days after that, which I told them in the first reply without letting on I knew about the 2 week limit. - so the dates are marginal.
Neither of us has any points.

Seems pretty dumb that they don't out the cameras in front of the marks. New cameras will be like that apparently, so they can do you for no seat belt, being on the phone, speeding, not having your tax disc the right way up, and farting without a license, to ban you in one go.

Can't believe we're the only ones who don't know what we were doing over 2 weeks ago, somebody must have been through it before.

If you HAVE to know then surely you shopuld HAVE to keep records, like companies do.

seriously all it needs is for one of you to decide who is taking the rap, if the police were looking into it, say you are known to them for all sorts and are sitting on 11pts and a crash was involved they might query your wifes statement that she was the driver, but a straight speeding they are not interested they want the money and a licence to endorse,
you honestly dont know who it was so if you fess up the registerd keeper gets done but it is a lot more paperwork and ends up with one of you getting the ticket anyway
where i used to work we had 300+ vans and a speeding ticket came in for a van, on a saturday 150 miles from the depot so nobody should have been in the van, it was a site van that various people used so nobody admitted having it home that weekend, all other vans are logged to a driver 24/7 this one wasnt so the police sent a letter to the transport dept basically saying that they had 48hrs to supply details of the driver or the MD as the responsible person, haha he went tonto, it ended up him saying to the site manager heads would roll if he got 3pts so get someone to admit it and no disciplinary would follow, so then someone took the rap, after that they introduced daily log sheets and the last name on the sheet would get the next ticket so if you handed the keys to someone it was your job to get them to sign the log aheet or you got the ticket, more paperwork and hassle for everyone but it got sorted by supplying "a name" to the police they were not interested

Tks Kirk
I can understand that companies might have to keep records, but when you aren't expecting anything and a note drops on your doormat demanding to know details of what you were doing 2 weeks ago or you get a fine (up to £1000), it's a bit, well, uncomfortable.
I didn't notice being flashed recently, neither did she. We both accused each other! For all we know it could have been a cloned plate, though it probably wasn't.

I had no idea we had to know who was driving at all times. Maybe we should all have to take driving tests every few years, so we get updated. You know like us gas plumbers do!

Whichever of us it was, if we carry on driving in this reckless manner, we can expect another ticket in, er, 2046, when we're 89!
Mind you we'll probably all have chips embedded into our cortex by then so the police will know where we are, & what we're saying. Or we'll have revolted and run them all over.

I'm with Mickymoody on this one, our street is blighted by selfish drivers who race through using it as a rat run to beat traffic lights on the main road so I've no sympathy.

I've even less sympathy for people whose observation is so poor that when speeding they can't even spot a great big yellow box stuck up on top of a pole. What chance do my kids have with drivers as incompetent as this around?

THen you better teach your kids not to hide behind trees in the dark unlit at the side of a four lane road.

You like trolling, obviously.

FFS you moaning old tart! Pick a name out of a hat, I mean, really, who cares? If you're both so bleedin safe then who cares who takes the rap!

Completely not the point.
Why do all the trolls want to answer points and questions that weren't asked? Just not very bright I suppose.

Happens all the time and this is the worst forum for it mate.

If you genuinely can't remember who it was then the best way is to see a solicitor who will write to the Central Ticket office to explain. Then it will go to court where you plead not guilty and the solicitor will explain to the magistrates how you have exhaused every avenue in trying to find out who the driver was. Rotas, diarys, speaking to friends colleagues etc.

You can represent yorself to save the money but you must show the magistrates you've tried to find out who it was till you went blue in the face.

on a four lane road? i thought you said it was a 30 zone and one of you was doin 37.
30 zones are usually residential lamp lit roads so it wouldnt have been dark and it wouldnt have been a four lane road.
the long and short of it is a child or a pregnant woman or somone could have stepped into your way and then you wouldnt be just faceing a speeding fine, i know we all speed there isnt a person out there that has NEVER sped and some of us are luckier than others but in my mind 30 requires more attention than others.
i dont want to have a row with anyone its just a few things i have picked up on reading through this.

Actually I think you're missing the point which is that if you don't want to get fined then don't speed, which part of that do you or your wife not comprehend. Its also a General Discussion Forum where threads tend to go where the forum wants and not always as the OP wanted that's really the double edged sword of all forums really, with 50 million posts under your belt I'd have thought you'd have realised that by now! You can babble on for the rest of time that 'its just not British' that maybe one of you should be prsecuted for something you didn't do but at the end of the day if whoever it was had been driving within the limit and not breaking the law you wouldn't be on here crying about it. One of you taking the rap for this is your punishment now MTFU.

Besides Inky Pete's link shows the defence process to follow yet you keep on bleating on.

point ...is that if you don't want to get fined then don't speed

No it is not. Try reading again.

The point is that you're apparently obliged to know who's driving, at all times, and to give a wrong answer is a crime. So what are you supposed to do if you don't know. It's about who's driving, not speeding. Can you understand that?
I don't suppose many people realise they might HAVE to know.
I could have used a better title, if I'd known people wouldn't bother to read...

As it happens yes it was a four lane road (earlier in the day it has bus lanes). Not particularly well lit, evergreen trees dotted about etc. All of which is irrelevant, but why accuse me of lying
