Looks like TN-C-S, but is not labelled "PME", so it could at a pinch be TN-S. What diameter is the supply cable?

Yes, it looks like a TNC-S

that G&Y earth wire will be connected to the N in the head.

there ought to be a label nearby saying it is PME.

Beware John!

With the covers on, these intakes look almost identical. The only real difference is the diameter of the cable (The split-con for TN-S being bulkier).

Thanks

So if it is TN-C-S is the earth feed in the garage CU ok to be fed by from the earth in the 2.5mm T&E cable that is running from the main house CU?

 best hack the cover off to be sure then.

What about voltage difference and resistance between N and E?

Not thought about that...

Anyone?

My turn for one of these!!

Is there any exposed metal pipework entering the garage from underground and if so how is it main bonded?

Hi Plugwash

There are no exposed pipes entering through the floor. There is supply to an outside tap that comes through the wall of the main house (fed from kitchen sink pipework). All internal pipework (mains water, main gas and central heating) is bonded.

Cheers

As long as all the main bonding goes back to the main house CU and not this garage CU then there is no problem earthing wise regardless of whether your supply is TN-S or TN-C-S.
