I knocked a spur switch off that my tumble dryer is connected to, and today when I went to use it, it no longer works. Have tested the dryer in another socket and all works fine. I don't usually turn the switch off so I am wondering could something have "gone" by me switching it off. I have checked that all wires are connected and tight on both sockets, I have also changed the fuse but to no avail. Any resolutions welcome.

Thank you in advance

I'm not sure what you mean by a "spur switch" but, generally:
Tumble dryers are one of the most power-demanding appliances in the house. As a result, associated fuses, plugs, sockets and switches can sometimes suffer from failure.
I'll bet the switch is knackered and needs replacment.

Sorry I meant a fused spur socket, never switched it off before, sorry I did now lol. I will try changing the socket as suggested and see what happens, thank you for your quick reply.

Just for reference. A socket and a fused spur are different things…

Surely you would be better off changing the item that you didn't switch off but was off and when switched back on didn't work, or was it the switch on the socket that 'switched itself off'? If the switch controls a remote socket, replacing the socket is unlikely to help.

I would be preferable, and far easier to test the wiring and see where the power stops before replacing anything!

Please excuse me for my ignorance on Spurs and Sockets, I don't have any equipment to check the wiring so I changed the "fused spur" as this is the one I turned off and back on, everything was working fine before touching this! Anyway this has done the trick and all is working again.

Thank you all for your replies.
