Spurs on a radial

Let's see now: So there's a kettle, is it on the boil all the time? Does the toaster have an insatiable appetite for sliced bread? And is the microwave constantly churning out ready meals? Is the hob extractor used continuously? I wonder how often the dishwasher is used simultaneously with the above?

"Kitchen circuit overloaded"?

I think not! This radial circuit spends more than 90% of its duty running idle, save for the slight load of the fridge & freezer.

Was in a flat this week occupied by a couple with 2 kids. They have a problem with nuisance tripping on their 20A kitchen radial. I suppose with a single person or couple it wouldn't happen so often. Obviously it's not overloaded all the time  but turn on 2 things and it's likely to be using more than the design current.
