Part L compliant cylinders don't have an anode as the structure is made of thicker copper offsetting the corrosive effect. Its normally a thicker bottom.. Oh err missus.
 
Hang on ...... Coppers red, Brass is yellow ........ & thats got silver on it ...... Which would make it soldered wouldn't it ? Spose the blue is flux ...... Just guessing there mind :eek:
I think the colours are caused by the heat of the brazing (around 500°C). If you apply excess heat to a piece of copper you'll see a similar display of colours.
 
On the subject of cylinders one of rip off guys in our merchants tried to charge someone 1200 quid for a straight change cylinder 36 by 18, How do they get away it, with how stupid are people.

Sadly because, cylinders, to some lay people, look incomprehensibly complicated, so they choose to trust what they're told by people who know how to fix the problem. That isn't stupid, it's just naive.
