You mean you like Stella Artois?

All lager is disgusting. I bet you have lime in it. "Ah, sorry mate, you want the pub which is just down the road a bit. I won't tell anyone."

Lager is fizzy and cooled to disguise the fact that it doesn't taste of anything. It's numbing down for the ignorant masses. What you want is a good proper, warm, flat, no head real ale. Now that's a man's drink!

There is nothing wrong with good lager - meybe you've only tried the industrial muck.

And how do you class beers such as Leffe, Duvel etc? Are they lagers?

No - that's a drink that's been badly cared for by the publican, and if you accept it then you're a fool. Real ale should not be artificially gassed, but it is far from flat, and it should be at cellar temperature, not warm.

No, they are not lagers (Jupiler is). Duvel is pretty heavy for that matter, never saw any one drink more than 4 (and when they did 5, always felt of their bar-stools    )
Leffe is a blond beer, not really lager.
Best Belgium beers (IMHO) are from Rodenbach, 4 different types, from low (Carolus) to a cherry flavoured stronger one (delicious with a drop of cherry-brandy added to it).

Yep, kriek, you have several brands of it. 'Sister' of Gueuze, they add the cherries in after the Gueuze has 'rested' for one or two years.
(And Gueuze is made using the natural yeast in the air).

Yes, I know. Just stimulating...! I once met a judge who put ice cubes in Boddington's Bitter (from a can). What have you to say to that?

And see here for an English brewery making fruited lambic ales.

I don't think much of their strawberry, (but Oz Clarke does), as I think it needs a sharp fruit, which is why I like kriek. Raspberry is also very good.

I've not tried Melbourn's cherry yet, but their apricot (another sharp fruit) is excellent.

PS - having said all that about sharp fruit, I also like Charles Wells' Banana Bread Beer.... :?:

the best Boddies ever an has won the best production served by breweries bitter is Boddies at a pub on Lytham rd ,Blackpool ... Called The Dunes... great pub old world smashing service .. an the boddies are lovely , they have loads of cask ales on too after a few , steam into them for something to eat , lol
