Hi everyone,

Could anyone point me in the correct direction please? I'm trying to replace a wall faceplate for a fan assisted storage heater.

I think its circa 1971?

Is there a direct replacement on the market? Or do you replace the back box with a twin and two separate switched fused faceplates?

Grateful for any help you can give me, thanks in advance.

I think your idea of a twin back box would be better.

Use a 20amp DP isolater for the econ 7 circuit and a 13amp switched fcu for the fan. The fan supply will be on a different circuit to the heat supply so it will probably be live 24/7. I would think it will be supplied from the ring main or a socket radial.

Just isolate the entire installation when doing the work to be safe and test for dead with a multimeter or volt stick

Why did they beat all electrical accessories with the ugly stick in the 60's and 70's?

So the modern equivalent to this old style of faceplate is something like this?

Looks like I'm going to need to replace the wall box  Oh well I had hoped to avoid doing that but were needs must I guess.

Thanks for you thoughts folks. Very helpful as ever.

p.s if anyone does know of a compatible faceplate I'd be all ears.

Could probably make something up using grid Modules?

I thought about that, but you would need 5 modules, so you'll end up having to change the box any way.

2 x flex outlet mods
2 x 20A DP switch mods
1x fuse mod

The rough bastard in me says to file two slots in the bottom of the cover place the right size for the flexes, and use a tie-wrap round each one to secure it from pulling through...
