Strange phonecall - debt, then offering pull debts together with zero percent

I once got a call into the office from some Indian chap telling me that my Windows was not working properly and he could help me. Obviously, I though it was the office windows, not the computer windows (which was working OK) and that was concerning. And it was one of the best 10 minutes of my life, but probably his worst. I loved his assistance with my attempt to plug a network cable into the hole below the window handle so he could diagnose it.
I had that - sent a glorious 30 minutes asking about which window he was talking about - at the time I worked from home and had 2 company winXP machine, a personal WinXP machine all working through a KVM switch to multiple screens/monitors (Windows 'on the world'). I tried to be so helpful - I kept on switching between the various screens on the KVM switch, but he couldn't understand why I couldn't get him the IP address via the 'Command' 'window'; I told I was pressing the select button and it just gave a different screen but not the screen he wanted. He finally gave up...

I would tend to agree, except I recall hearing of a scheme to consolidate debts and thus reduce the interest payable.
Yes, but wouldn't the best people to contact be either the Citizens Advice Bureau or your local credit union? Some councils also have debt councilling referral services.

I'm with the others - cold calling = potential scam. The real services dealing with this sort of thing have neither the staff, the time or the money to chase customers

I had one of those once, he said your windows pc was in need of support, so I said I had many, he would have to give me an ip address so I would know which machine he meant, of course he could not give me one, this went backwards and forwards for a bit. then has asked for remote connection, I said sorry there was a GPO preventing that, to which he had no answer...
