If you don't have the intellect to select an alternative word then please invest in a thesaurus/dictionary.

I did, the Oxford English Dictionary. It has a word that begins with f that mean copulation, it has a word beginning with s that means faecies, it has a word beginning with c that pertains to womens naughty bits, it has a word beginning with b pertaining to mens naughty bits, it has lots of other words which are in your swear filter, I suspect.

I think all this nannying is pathetic.

I hope you wasnt chewing gum while typing that Oilman....and no running down the coridoor..

My opinion in people swearing for no reason is a sign of weakness the same as shouting or losing their temper.

So people who shout and lost their temper are weak then?...as for swearing, I have my bounderies...certainly never in front of kids...I never swear unless someone else swears first.....therefore setting the tone of the conversation....and I never say the 'c' word in front of women.

people that litter their conversation with expletives I wouldn't say are weak more they have a lack of a good vocabulary.

I didn't say that, just my opinion, people seems to lose their temper so easily now as the UK have one of the highest stress level, no difference from road rages over a slightest thing which make them weak.

B.O.B DOLE

I do take exception to your Rant ....
"northern people they cant say a sentance without the f word "

lol how RACIST you are ..lol
I have worked all over the UK an by far the worst part for swearing was Londoners ....
OH YES......
I had a spell in the so called rough areas ..
northeast ,Liverpool,an Glasgow yep them council wallahs who know no better are foul ..
but where they were private home owners /workers I Never heard any gutter talk ...the odd bloody but no F/C words in houses

but the most disgusting are the General classes in London , from working class to middle class especially,
they pepper every other sentance with F***,an quite recently was doing sub work last Jan an its now quite common to here C*** ,or Ca** ,as they squeal it ,lol, every other word ...
an these homes were not council houses but west1 ,type addresses ..
I still shudder to hear a very upper class sloan type talk like a slut....

btw I may post swearwords here by accident an deleted but sober I dont think it necessary ....

I admit it, I swear, I swear more than I should, I put this down to my bachground, I have spent my entire career in the construction Industry or on Ships and Oil Platforms..until recently the realm of the Hard drinking, hard living swearing man...It is certainly not an excuse, but a reason...

Now I will say what I intended to say..What is swearing?

Swearing is the use of words, usually in frustration, to act as adjectives to emphasise a point or comment by an individual, and this is usually insulting to the recipient when directed at a person. However how do we define swearing, well in this politically correct world it would appear that not agreeing with someone or being frustrated by someone elses incompetence is swearing..

Words that are in common everyday use are now considered swearing..such words are sh it, which is simply a common colloquelism for excrement, but others get upset by the use of damn, blasted, moronic, idiotic, bug ger etc etc.

This is really pathetic, I understand that words such as f**k, b**t**d etc many find uneccessary...but what is wrong with describing someones incompetence as damned idiotic saying someone is a blasted moron...

We need to be mature and adult about this, and all this dictatorial direction we see on here and other BB's is frankly OTT. I appreciate that the admins have a difficult job to do, and they need to cater for many types of people, but lets try to keep thing in perspective and try to use common sense when deciding what is and is not swearing.

i DO NOT swear   in front of women and children it is not nessasery

unless they are over 14 and share my love off billy conolly
i absolutly love swearing in the correct place and situation

an oooo f*ck when you make a mistake means something if you rarely use roody words
i love it but in moderation and the right place otherwise it means nowt

I was at work yesterday, and these two 16-17 year olds came in, quite chavish looking, they were waiting at the checkout for something, and i was behind the checkout doing something on the newspaper computer, and i overheard their conversation, and i swear, every other word was an expletive, most commonly "f***in". I felt like saying i would give them £10 if they could speak an entire sentence without the use of a f***ing expletive!

There is no need for this though, especially in a local shop where there are little kiddies running about and elderly people who no doubt feel somewhat threatened by such foul language. It certainly made me feel slightly threatened, and its just not nice. What is the world coming to?

I dont mind people who talk normally with the odd expletive to highlight what they are saying, and in the right place (pub, building site). I do it myself. And swearing when you have just hurt yourself or cocked up something, thats fine, I do that too, but there is a time and a place.
