Tails from inverter to consumer unit

So you have a grid tie to edf and no auto isolation, so your install will turn off if the grid supply fails..... you still need an mcb to protect the cable from the solar install... the edf grid tie will have a fuse/mcb so should your own micro generation from solar.

Imagine if that battery stack had a fault and dumped to your consumer unit....with no mcb - feu feu feu

The inverter circuit needs protected the same way any other circuit needs protected. If the cable develops a fault the only protection is the main cut-out fuse as mentioned previously. A breaker on the battery side is nice to have but won't stop someone putting a nail through the grid side cable etc.
