Boxing in a radiator with under window seat, will leave ventilation but would like to boost air movement with a fan which could be switched by heat from rad like a wet plinth heater.?
Is there something "off the shelf" I could use?

A thermostat or pipestat.
Indeed - but unless one was happy to mess about with a relay (the OP asked for "off-the-shelf"), one would have to try to find one with changeover (or 'NO') contacts (which is quite uncommon), since the 'NC' contacts of the 'usual' thermostats and pipestats will open, not close, when temperature exceeds the set temp.

Kind Regards, John

I thought they were rare, but found most wholesalers tend to have at least 1 type of stat in stock that has both N/O and N/C contacts, we have to replace failed ones in ATM pods, they have fans in to cool the room, to stop the atms overheating

InkBird make stand alone controllers one plug and two sockets one for heating and one for cooling so you could have a simple plug in unit.

I have not used one as when I started beer brewing they were not on the market, I used a STC-1000. I think a unit that clips on the pipe is better, but if you do want plug and play yes you can get one around £25.

Yes, they exist, and I have, indeed, found and used them for the very sort of purpose that both you and the OP are talking about (using the 'stat to tuirn on a fan when temp rose above the set level - like the functionality required of cooling fans in computers and other electronic equipment).

However, if one simply bought "a thermostat" (or pipestat) it is very likley that it would have only "N/C" contacts (which open when temp rises) - which is why I cautioned that one would (for this purpose) have to be careful to seek out one which had changeover or N/O contacts.

EFL it will work without a fan , but much more efficient with one. An alternative would be to fit a time switch to match heating time switch but slightly less efficient.
