Eurovision is a bit weird. In the 70s I guess it was akin to Saturday evening TV. Now it is no longer mainstream, more a cult kitsch following. Artists wanting to be taken seriously would not risk damaging their repuation by taking part. Back in 1968 Cliff Richard was in it with congratulations
