The Atheist Delusion movie

people dont get angry at fairy tails ? are you angry whith dans, believe in noddy:LOL:

genesis 6;8
8 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
Ok then I'll give you that one, but explain this. In Genesis Adam and Eve get kicked out of the Garden of Eden for partaking of the forbidden fruit, have a couple of kids, who wander off when they've grown up and "Begat themselves wives." Where on Earth did they go to do all this "begatting?" Was there another garden somewhere for these buxom wenches to come from? Explain that successfully and I'll fall to my knees, begging the Lord's forgiveness.. (mind you , according to the New Testament, we're all forgiven, so if ya don't mind, I'll save my knees)

Well I for one am very pleased that If I were a christian, I would have zero need for independent thought or logical discourse as I would just need to believe words written by ANOTHER MAN.....
we are created to be dependent upon God. only God can give us back who we really are.
and only God can make us whole again.
we was not created to carry heavy burdens, Jesus said to cast all your cares upon him, for his yoke is easy ,and his burdens are light.

Perhaps he can help me tomorrow BnB, Got a wardrobe to move tomorrow (only from my daughter's room into the spare room,, but every little helps )

You don't know much for someone interested in the truth.

the 66 books of the bible are enough

what matters is the truth

If you cared about the truth , the last thing you would believe is the scripture .

again i don't know enough about Galapagos to comment.

What about the Dodo?

This is what elf and I are trying to impart on you . . . . . You are so blinkered and ignorant of the truth that you can't see the ridiculous position you put yourself in every time you quote the Bible .

You don't even know the truth. Your like an animal grasping at a game of chess when your brain wasn't even programmed to understand it, yet you've fooled yourself into thinking you know the moves.

"The most beautiful and most profound experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling is at the center of true religiousness."

Albert Einstein.

And a bunch of builders on a diy forum think they know better.

But exactly what was he referring to. Was it religion, or the majesty of God - and they are different, so how can you accuse a bunch of builders from knowing better than Einstein. Disbelieving in the corruption of the bible in many ways, is thinking for yourself. Just because you may not know the truth, doesn't mean to say that you can't see a lie when shown to you.

BnB keeps referring the to the scriptures, and refutes anything that isn't in it, yet refuses to accept the roman catholic faith which is actually a truer version of the bible. BnBs version came from the breakaway from Rome by Henry the 8th, so how can he take it as being the true word of God.

Firstly we must ask - Is Roger lying again?
And then - Does he understand what he has posted?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_and_philosophical_views_of_Albert_Einstein

I have, you will note, been fair and included the following paragraph as well.

"In a 1950 letter to M. Berkowitz, Einstein stated that "My position concerning God is that of an agnostic. I am convinced that a vivid consciousness of the primary importance of moral principles for the betterment and ennoblement of life does not need the idea of a law-giver, especially a law-giver who works on the basis of reward and punishment."[23]

According to biographer Walter Isaacson, Einstein was more inclined to denigrate atheists than religious people.[24] Einstein said in correspondence, "[T]he fanatical atheists...are like slaves who are still feeling the weight of their chains which they have thrown off after hard struggle. They are creatures who—in their grudge against the traditional 'opium of the people'—cannot hear the music of the spheres."[24][25] Although he did not believe in a personal God, he indicated that he would never seek to combat such belief because "such a belief seems to me preferable to the lack of any transcendental outlook."

You don't know what Jesus said, you were not there, only hearsay at best. Translated by man for man.

Off topic....but amusing no less.
Roger928, its rather funny that you consider a style of interaction on a forum as being limited to a singular individual!
Whilst I have read posts by Himmigan I actually have never agreed with them and I consider him/her/it an imbecile! Also I didn't know that Himmigan had been 'bounced'!
As i stated in my first post:

Hi all, long time lurker and upon reading this thread, thought I would join as I love a laugh!
Am a keen diy-er and have used many of the posts on this forum to assist me (for which I thank you all) but have found that I mostly now read for the constant arguments in this general section! I lmfao so often its wonderful, again thanks for the jollies!

So Roger928....You Sir are wrong! (which really does NOT surprise me after having read some of your contributions to the consciousness labeled humanity!)

All this religious mumbo jumbo ??

well the way I see it , is what's in it for me ;) use to work with a bloke who was in the Plymouth Bretheren years ago, there was a rumour about interest free loans being bandied about ?

me & my mate told him we may not mind joining up if there was an interest free loan in it ? turn up around the meeting hall have a chin wag & sing a hymn ounce a week we were up for it.

could have been some other perks in it as well ? :sneaky: say a leg over may be :)

bloke took a pretty dim view of our attitude tbh think he used the wording total disgrace if I recall.

bit OTT imho but there u go :)

Lets quickly consider thought?
Who or what is the you that thinks?
Lets look at Socrates who it is stated said "an unexamined life is not worth living".

But he said much more than that:

He considered that a life lived without reflectiveness of thought and deed, a life not based on principles is a life so vulnerable to chance and therefore so dependent on the choices and actions of others, subtle or otherwise, that it is of little or no value to the individual that unique life of that person living it. He saw, interpreted a life well lived as one which had goals, integrity of person, values, principles, a sense of a consciousness of the world, material reality as well as the Spiritual realm of being.

There is of course the consideration that You may just be a forming embryo of a individualistic self awareness, so in effect a child which will become nothing and expire unless it understands it's own self and the reasoning behind it's formation....within a given 3 score years and 10?

Then again....maybe not?
