The Budget 2024.

U.K. has shortages of nurses, doctors, vets, farm workers, care sector, hospitality.

Odd how it happened after FOM ended.
So have other European countries despite all these nurses, doctors, vets, farm workers, care sector, hospitality workers returning home. You seem to champion the rights of our 'friends in Europe', are you happy to make your friends even worse off by taking their workers or do you think we should grow our own even if it costs a bit more?

So, let’s get this straight, you’re quite happy to see those European countries who are short of workers to become even more short of workers so that you don’t have to queue any longer for your fast food, get a tradesmen round quicker or cheaper or your fruit picked before it goes rotten? Okay, I get it, you’re selfish.
Maybe you could tell us why immigration has massively risen since brexit, and is that ok with you?

And that non EU countries have become 'even more short of workers', and is that also ok with you?

I ain't 'selfish', I look at the facts...

Surely you can do the same?

Oops I forgot...

mottie doesn't care!

Maybe if we got the work shy (the ones who admit to taking money for work that they weren't going to do anyway) to pay their ill gotten gains back, then we could probably afford to pay those willing to work a bit more ;)

So freedom of movement is not really a requirement then to get workers to the U.K. then.
Do you mean workers, migrants or refugess?

We had a great arrangement going a few years back, whereby workers from our neighbouring countries would come to the UK, work hard, then return home. They were great for the economy too.

Lol. A tired old trope. The UK has relied on overseas workers since Enoch Powell was a lad.

Its hilarious that the dribbling old duffers that voted for Brexit, now rely on those very people they voted to boot out of the UK.

Dumb Brexers.

Here’s an idea. Maybe as an interim we can just take the workers we want or need and not give carte blanche to any old European to be brought over to lower the wages of British workers although where would builders get their cheap labour workforce from?

Just recently, I’ve been to the doctor, dentist, chiropodist and barber, taken my dog to the vet, been able to buy just about any fruit or vegetable I wanted, been talking to a friend who has arranged care for his mother both NHS and private (something wrong with her bones - literally breaks ribs getting out of bed) and been for various meals out. I can’t say I’ve noticed any shortages of staff since FOM ended. No doubt you've experienced the polar opposite although I can’t remember you mentioning it on here and I’m sure you would have.

Maybe if those that said they had booked their one-way flights and a container for their belongings and said they were "done with this country like they were done with this forum" actually did what they said they were going to do, this country would be a little less crowded with those that hate everything about it? Anyway, you seemed to have dodged the question I asked. Again. Have you got me on you question ignore list like JohnD has?

Can you get together with nosey and get your stories straight? One of you is saying we have a shortage of workers since Brexit, the other is saying immigration has risen in the same period. Which is it?

Are you going to stop?

Maybe you should as your tedious threads and subsequent posts just keep raking over the same time and time again WITHOUT offering any forward solutions........ Just comments based on hindsight

Both. Boat people are not allowed to work.

Like we used to, back in the good old (EU membership) days.

not give carte blanche to any old European to be brought over to lower the wages of British workers
Much debunked Daily Wail (shmucks) myth.

I wouldn't know. I'm sure the big construction companies have their recruitment strategies worked out - for the low skilled.
