Spineless politicians

It's the people who are spinless, as it's very clear a large number, very likely a majority, will vote to stay in.

Not so much spineless as thick!

A large proportion, possibly the majority, of the electorate are too stupid for their own good because they take as gospel everything they are told by their favourite politicians.

I, too, worry that we'll vote to stay in, even if we are given the opportunity of a referendum, which is by no means on the cards. We shall then continue (through our own stupidity) to be $hit on by the EU, simply because we are seen as an easy target.

All the spare money they earn here is sent back home. Have you noticed Poland is the only EU country without a financial problem?

As I see it, the problem is the insidious manner in which the Common Market, which is what the UK and Ireland joined in 1971, has become the European Union, another name for the United States of Europe. Who is running the EU? It's France and Germany! Shock horror! The two countries which attempted to rule Europe by force (Napoleon 19th Century and Germany (twice) 20th Century). Thus, unless David Cameron gets exactly what he wants regarding the repatriation of sovereignty (hopefully this means go back to the Common Market, dump the EU), we really do need to tell Brussels to go to hell! I find it strange that countries like France (remember the farmers and their road blocks?) and Italy (driving the Roma gypsies out of town) seem to ignore the EU diktats they do not like, but are the first to scream and shout if another state does the same. Even though we hate it, we are British, we abide by the rules. It's high time we took a leaf out of the others' book and "ignored" the diktats which are not in our interests. As another poster has stated, Norway and Switzerland do all right outside the EU, so why can we not do the same?

No new settlement negotiated - no referendum?

Doesn't the above actually mean there will be no referendum, be it good / bad, right or wrong?

Trying to hard.

If the conservatives win, they will give us a referendum.

I suspect however they are gambling on not getting in, or getting in as a coalition again, allowing them to wiggle out of it, and that they are fairly confident people will vote to stay.

And remember that whilst people bash Cameron for not giving us a referendum on Lisbon, it was already signed before he was voted in, and his original "promise" did give him that as a get out.

But If the conservatives win, they will give us a referendum, to many eurosceptics in their party that going back on this would split their party and destroy their credibility completely.

If we ever do get asked the question the money thrown at the 'yes' side of the argument by all the big parties and government will ensure that they can't lose. Bstrds

As a euro sceptic myself I'd be interested to know how many people really want out compared to those that complain and say they do. Whatever it is there's no doubt that actually achieving it will be very difficult indeed. And it won't just be an uphill battle at home - Germany and France will do whatever necessary to keep us in as well. You can ignore the French spouting off now about how it would welcome our exit because they are well aware that our money pays for the fantastic lifestyle enjoyed by their massively subsidised farmers. Any change to that position and they'll be dusting off their guillotines. And Germany just won't want to be left on it's own with France. Once the EU propaganda machine gets moving I reckon the votes will drop well below 25% and that will be the end of the matter. And Cameroon obviously knows that full well.

Oh, but they would, given the chance.

Unfortunately, they are not going to get a majority, not unless the majority of the electorate vote for them and even if people want out of the EU, many of them will find it difficult to vote for anyone other than the party they have always voted for! The best UKIP can hope for is to form part of a coalition, but even that is unlikely.

No. Labour will get in next time, so we are stuck with the EU and that, in my opinion, will lead to the eventual ruin of this country. As I've said before, it will be nobody's fault but our own.

A polish bathroom fitter here showed me picture's of his family and home back in poland.........he proceeded to tell me the modern apartments in polish cities are the same prices as here and he couldn't understand how they could be afforded.

I had a phone call a few hours ago, 19:09hrs to be exact, the no. that called was 01702310119.

It turns out he was doing a survey, asked me if i could spare a couple of minuets, which i did, he asked what i thought about caMORON, the immigration, UKIP and Clegg etc. the survey had been actioned by the limp dems, i asked how the responses were going and he reckons about 60% or so were similar to my answers, so we can expect a U turn very soon from Cleggy.
