The Cenotaph Today

Veterans wear their insignia with pride and there were none in the crowd battling with the police. They were football hooligans and fascist thugs who went looking for trouble from the start.
There is a twitter clip where a veteran wearing a beret is on the police side of the barrier facing the thugs pleading with them to stop.
The veterans refused to join the Football lads alliance, Britain's First and the EDL group in Parliament Square. TV footage clearly shows this, but it is being mis-reported yet again by the BBC and SKY as part of their negative narrative.
But there again JohnD you can only see what you want to see.
It's hard to be positive about neo Nazis and football hooligans having a riot. It's a bad look having soldiers on the same side as them. They chose poorly, when they learnt there was no threat to the cenotaph they should have gone home.

You said they were veterans.

The BBC have reported Right Wing Activists are at the Cenotaph - No - They are veterans of the realm who have served their queen and country and are protecting their memorial to the Glorious Dead.

Not me.

I told you I doubted it.

If you are right, which I doubt, then you are telling us that veterans **** on memorials, give Nazi salutes, and throw beer cans at police.

I've not seen any of the footage, but I've no doubt your are 100% correct on the above.

Yep, right wing thugs descended on London today. Shameful bunch of low life tossers.

He was with the BLM movement wasn't he?

Conveniently no mention of the unprovoked throat slitting of a white man on his own who was then set upon by a group of BLM activists.

Funny that, maybe his skin colour meant he didn't deserve it.

The white protests was a while lot more civil than the BLM protests, but it doesn't count count as apparently from recent events BLM can hide behind their skin colour and we all must feel sorry for them and protect them so the wrong doers don't get arrested and the police must now down to them.

A completely different form of policing against the whites this weekend which again is all rather convenient

I can't be the only one who sees the hypocrisy.

The thugs that set out for a fight shame on them,

What are you talking about? That was one of the idiots in parliament Square, where the EDL, football fans and other 'protectors' were. BLM never went there.

I don't know how you can be so utterly completely wrong without trying.

It's not an issue about feelings. It's wrong, morally and legally.

Were you in the crowd of RWR today?
No.bit far for me...Whatever the rights and wrongs,I do not think pulling down statues is the answer. And defacing the cenotaph is another level of stupidity.Any protests I think always attracts a cross section of people, from those who wish to just make their point,to those who have not the foggiest idea about Churchill or why the Cenotaph is there..

...to those who have not the foggiest idea about Churchill or why the Cenotaph is there..
I would suggest that those who are aware of Churchill's racist comments, attitude and actions, are very much aware of Churchill, his good and his bad attributes.
They are probably sick and tired of his good attributes being glorified, while his bad attributes, and the victims (up to 4,000,000 of them), are airbrushed out of the narrative.
“This is a man the British would have us hail as an apostle of freedom and democracy, when he has as much blood on his hands as some of the worst genocidal dictators of the 20th century,” he said to applause.
He added: “People started dying and Churchill said well it’s all their fault anyway for breeding like rabbits. He said ‘I hate the Indians. They are a beastly people with a beastly religion’.”

And those wishing to destroy the cenotaph, what are there reasons..As I have said,I understand Churchill angst among some, but not the cenotaph.

Some wish to dwell on the Bad,others dwell on Churchill's good attributes...Personally I think we might have been badly off without him in WW2...And As I have said repeatedly, whatever your gripe, criminal damage of statues is not the answer.

I had read somewhere that he was with BLM, hence why i said it as a question.
