Brexit put a right wing populist party in power in UjK.A Scotland in Union with the EU would just be a smaller fish in an even bigger pond.
With the EU moving towards the abolition of the veto, Scotland would have no real say in its future.

I get the impression off a few on here that the eu is just a jolly benign club that they can't enough of.

The direction of travel is toward more integration and centralisation.
National sovereignty of small states and the ambition of the EU to create a superstate are not compatible.
I don't agree that National sovereignty and a Federal Europe are entirely incompatible. Russian aggression is forcing those nations to cooperate more closely in their own interests - And states in America have similar issues with a Federal government but manage to rub along in the same direction. If Scotland ever had the chance to rejoin the EU it wouldn't mean the end of their national state.
The people get the politicians they vote for.
If the remainer dominated Parliament had not tried to overturn the will of the Brexit supporting majority in Britain, would Boris Johnson have got his 80 seat majority.
America is a sovereign state with a common identity and allegiance to one flag.
The EU is a collection of countries with different languages and cultures going back centuries.
So can the EU really be compared to America.
It can be compared in the sense of a political adherence to a common creed: Liberty and the rule of Law being the most obvious.
Of course, everyone has their own version of this according to custom and the further east you go, the traditions become shallower since Soviet occupation eroded their culture of such high expectations.
If you think America has only one flag then you should look again at individual states within the union.

Ukraine's sovereignty and Vlad the Invader's ambitions to create a super state are not compatible either. You seem to be ok with that though...
