Do you believe in the concept of that there is a “The One” out there for you? A person who you can deeply bond with, spiritually and emotionally . Someone who you could share everything with, someone with whom you were a part of each other and couldn’t imagine yourself apart from, or do you settle for a good friend with whom the sex was pretty darn good?

There was a psychologist who believed that you only let a person 'into your life' to meet a need that you had. Once this need was met, you no longer needed the friendship of that person and you 'moved on' to find another person

It is quite an interesting philosophy and I tend to agree with it as it can easily be seen reflected in people's behaviours.

So, if a person continues to meet your needs, and of course, you meet theirs, then the relationship can be endless. The important thing is to realise that any relationship has not got to the stage of 'habit', where the person feels secure with you/vice versa, but you are not actually meeting their needs. This type of relationship is likely to continue until one person gains strength and begins to look elsewhere for someone else to meet the new needs
